Open University Obris is an adult education institution, registered at Commercial court of Slavonski Brod 18th August 2006. The institution rose from the intellectual service craft of the same title founded in May of the year 2003 in Pozega. Obris was founded to fulfil the needs of adults for retraining, acquiring new professional competences and provide people with necessary work oriented and everyday life information through pleasant gatherings and professional workshops.
The founder and owner of the university is a private entity and all the activities are conducted in compliance with Law on Associations, Law on High School Education and Law on Public Open Universities.
Currently, there are eight employees at the University and over 101 high-school teachers and professional associates cooperating in implementation of the consultation-instruction classes and professional training of attendees.
Nowadays the University enables the citizens of Pozega-Slavonia and Osijek-Baranja counties:
- completion of primary school for adults (from 15 years old onwards)
- completion of secondary school qualification:
- three-year programme (sales person, motor vehicle driver, construction worker, carpenter, cook, waiter, confectioner) and
- four-year programme (sales clerk, administrative officer, road transport technician, construction and architectural technician)
- professional trainings in construction (bricklayer, carpenter, ceramist, concrete worker etc.), and for work on working machines (dredge, loader, forklift etc.)
- professional qualification in the field of information technology and computing:
- PC operator on computers with a possibility of acquiring ECDL diploma
- assembly, maintenance and repairing of personal computers
- photography and prepress of digital photography
- professional qualification for accountant, accountant for family rural economy and professional training for independent accountant
- professional training for agriculture (orchardist and wine pruner, vegetable grower, apiarist, therapeutical herbs grower and mushroom picker)
- professional training for conducting work of rural tourism manager
- professional training in catering: waiter, cook, confectioner, pizza maker
- professional training for work of elderly and disabled persons carer
- professional training for conducting work of geront(o)host/ hostess
- professional training of medical masseuse
- professional training for conduction work of child carer
- learning of foreign language at all levels (English and German language)
- licence acquiring for security officer and keeper
All the above stated qualifications have been approved by The Ministry Science and Education and are recorded in the work record card.
Pakrac subsidiary was opened 18th March 2009 within The Entrepreneurial incubator Pakrac and the centre of Pakrac, Zona male privrede 5, Pakrac.
Osijek subsidiary was opened 18th May 2009 within The Entrepreneurial incubator BIOS, J.J. Strossmayera 341, Osijek. From 1st March 2013 we have ben situated at the address Vrt Jagode Truhelke 3, in the very centre of the town.
